For many, Kurukshetra conjures up images of the epic battle of Mahabharata and
yet again for others Kurukshetra is the place to visit for the Maha-Kumbh Mela.
The one million people who congregated here recently on this occasion convinced
the government of its tourist potential and it unveiled a ninety-nine million
rupees plan to promote the city and bring to limelight the historical,
religious and archaeological heritage of the place. This amount would be spent
on strengthening the infrastructure, landscaping and conservation of the
significant places of
important heritage within a radius of 48 km

of Kurukshetra.
Anticipating a wave of consumerism, Wal-Mart, Spencers and Vishal Mega Mart
